Call for applications from the African Women’s Network for Conflict Prevention and Mediation, Second Batch (FEMWISE-AFRICA)
The African Union Commission has announced the opening of applications for the second batch of the African Women’s Network for Conflict Prevention and Mediation (FEMWISE-AFRICA) at the continental level.
This initiative aims to strengthen the role and contribution of African women in conflict prevention, mediation, and peace processes through their participation in national and regional activities.
This network was established by Resolution No. 663 of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in July 2017, as a subsidiary mechanism of the Committee of the Wise.
It is worth noting the great importance that our country attaches to strengthening the role of women in peacekeeping and security operations, a commitment that was translated by Algeria’s adoption of the National Action Plan for the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution (1325) on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, in addition to Algeria’s hosting of the first General Assembly of the FEMWISE-AFRICA Network, which was held in December 2017 in Constantine.
